The New York Jets headed the league in rushing last year and they concluded 9-7 vs the NFL football gambling prospects. Even though they were 5-5 after starting the year 1-5, the Tennessee Titans were second in the league in rushing but then stumbled to a 6-10 record vs the spread.

The Browns could have more results this year and they ran the ball pretty well down the stretch last year with Jerome Harrison. Mike Shanahan is the new head coach for the Washington Redskins, and his teams typically run the ball pretty well. Clinton Portis could be in for a major year for the Redskins in 2010 and that could mean that Washington has a winning record vs the point spread. The Atlanta Falcons are another team that will be much better running the ball this year. Michael Turner was injured last year but he’s well now and that ought to mean lots of racing results for the Falcons this year.

Plenty of times it is teams that run the ball proficiently that bring home the money for gamblers, although passing teams get a lot of attention from fans.
