Comeback Begins for Delhomme in Football Gambling

Football betting oddsmakers were ready to write off quarterback Jake Delhomme after his terrible football betting results with Carolina last year. Football betting dynamics could be changing, however, as Delhomme is now with the young Cleveland Browns as he seeks to jump start his career in the 2010 football betting year.
As they defeated the Packers 27-24 on a last second Phil Dawson field goal of 46 yards, Delhomme got off to a nice start with the Browns in their preseason starter at Green Bay. Dawson formerly nailed a 57 yarder to tie the game in the 4th quarter.
“It’s preseason, it doesn’t count,” explained Delhomme. “But hey, everybody has a smile on their face.” As Cleveland covered the football prospects as 3-point longshots, Delhomme headed the Browns to a touchdown in his only drive of the game.
It’s expected that Delhomme will bring reliability to the quarterback position that’s been lacking for many years in Cleveland. Over and above that the Browns are a young team and could use expert leadership and guidance that Delhomme can provide. With his standout professionalism and attention to detail, Delhomme has led by example.
The Browns’ Josh Cribbs, a receiver and returner that has often been deemed their sole weapon, was pleased with Delhomme’s introduction. “I was just amazed at how quick he picked up on the offense and he just was boom-boom-boom in his reads,” Cribbs claimed. “You see the veteran play in him. It’s very promising.” The game ended with Delhomme at 6-7 for 66 yards. Just as extraordinary was backup quarterback Seneca Wallace who passed for 2 touchdowns.
“Everybody offensively did a great job,” explained Wallace. “From what I saw last year on film, it’s totally different. They’re very eager to get better. We’re moving in the right direction and that’s what you want. A lot of guys who want to get better.” New Browns president Mike Holmgren could build a hidden gem with the NFL lines. He has been a part of past rebuilding efforts in Green Bay and Seattle and understands what it takes to turn losers into winners. In 2010, the Browns have a new and better attitude that could be translated into enhanced football betting value.
Coach Eric Mangini is emphasizing the new start, according to Cribbs. “We’re not the old Browns,” explained Cribbs. “We’re a new team, refreshed, new quarterback, new president, new everything and we’re ready to play some football.” Delhomme was signed as an undrafted free agent back in 1997 by the New Orleans Saints. He helped take the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2003 after he signed to the team. After a number of up and down years with the Panthers, including the 2009 year where he was placed on a season-ending injured reserve in December, he was released in March of this year. He signed a 2 year contract with the Cleveland Browns a few days later. Delhomme will be competing with Seneca Wallace for the starting quarterback job due to the fact Colt McCoy will not be playing this year. Delhomme is hoping to assist the Browns rebound from a dismal 5-11 record in 2009.
