Football gambling odds do not favor the Browns to win this year but stranger things have happened.

The Browns have had just one winning year over the last 7 years and they won just five matches a year ago. The Browns have a new direction under squad president Mike Holmgren and they did add veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme in the off-season. Last year the Browns started 1-11 nonetheless they won their last four matches.

From 1986 to 1991, Holmgren was assistant coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He became head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 1998, then of the Seahawks from 1999 to 2008. During his time with these 3 squads, he’s known for his work in molding quarterbacks such as Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Steve Young, and Matt Hasselbeck. He’s become known as one of the best coaches in the league. He took a break from coaching at the conclusion of the 2008 year, worked as an analyst for NBC’S coverage of the Super Bowl in 2009, and signed for the position to be president of the Browns at the conclusion of 2009.

Every year since 2002 there has been at least one squad that has made a extraordinary improvement at the online sportsbook from one year to the next. The Browns actually did it in 2007 as they evened up for the AFC North championship a year after concluding in dead last.

The question to answer this season is whether Cleveland can be the surprise squad in NFL gambling in 2010. There are many pluses for the Browns nonetheless they do have some spots of difficulty. The Browns should be significantly better at quarterback. An NFL veteran, Delhomme is a major upgrade over Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn. Cleveland does have some receiving talent despite the fact that it’s young, and the squad can run the ball with Jerome Harrison. The defense wasn’t very great yet in the last four matches they were somewhat better as they held two of their last four competitors to ten points or fewer.

What might help the Browns in 2010 is their division. The Pittsburgh Steelers have numerous questions while the Bengals are coming off a year in which close to it all went their way. Cleveland can be competitive vs the other two squads, though the Baltimore Ravens are going to be challenging.

The early portion of the year is going to determine if Cleveland has a chance to be a surprise squad in 2010. They start off with winnable games vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chiefs. There’s hope for the 2010 year if they can somehow start 2-0. They may turn some heads and get some folks in Cleveland to believe in the team.
