2010 NFL Preseason Wagering on Cleveland Browns
The Browns are expected to be better this season, even though they’re 80-1 underdogs in 2010 NFL preseason gambling to win the Super Bowl.
They are 18.5 to 1 to secure the AFC North in NFL preseason lines. On August 14th, Cleveland begins their preseason schedule at Green Bay.
2010 NFL preseason betting on the Browns goes on in Week 2 when they host the St Louis Rams. The Browns are at Detroit in Week 3 and then host the Chicago Bears in their preseason finish. As they attempt to change the culture of the team, the preseason will be a pretty critical time for the Browns. President Mike Holmgren has made several changes that ought to make the Browns a better team in 2010.
Cleveland played pretty poorly last season until the last few weeks. In the final month the Browns won games vs Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Oakland and Jacksonville. Head coach Eric Mangini saved his job with that winning streak. Now he will have to add to that run.
Mangini, who was formerly the head coach of the New York Jets, confronted critique in his 1st year of coaching the Browns. Sports Illustrated columnist Joe Posnanski referenced Mangini’s hiring as the worst coaching hire of the past 25 years. As head coach of the Browns, thus far he has a 5-11 track record in sports betting. New Browns president Mike Holmgren declared in January that he’d hold Mangini on for the 2010 season.
Cleveland is handing over the starting position to quarterback Jake Delhomme and he figures to be better than Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson. The Browns are in danger if Delhomme can not get the job done since they have only Seneca Wallace and rookie Colt McCoy. The Browns will look to take the pressure off of Delhomme and run the ball with Jerome Harrison. Cleveland needs to run the ball well due to the fact they have no receivers. Mohamed Massaquoi directed the team in catches last season while Josh Cribbs is better as a running back. The Browns do have a quality offensive line, but until they show they can throw the ball, opposing defenses are likely to stack up against the run.
The Browns defense is really not pretty excellent. They have no name linebackers, an overblown secondary and a below average defensive line. The team took Joe Harden in the 1st round and they did acquire cornerback Sheldon Brown from Philadelphia, so perhaps the Browns can be better in the secondary. The Browns do have excellent special teams directed by Cribbs and kicker Phil Dawson.
In at least 2 and perhaps 3 of their preseason games, NFL preseason lines when you bet on football will likely show the Browns as long shots, and until Cleveland proves they can win consistently they will continue to receive points.
